Mr and Mrs M enjoy an excellent position in picturesque Bishopsteignton overlooking the estuary. When they asked us to help maximise the views and create a sense of bringing the outdoors in, we knew we could give them the ‘wow’ factor.
Keep reading to find out how we made the most of these spectacular views and modern home.
Where Did We Start?
Mr and Mrs M’s open plan living, dining and kitchen area was originally cut off from their outside space and stunning views by having only standard sized windows and a single set of French doors in the centre of the wide wall.
The view of the estuary is a complete, uninterrupted panorama, so by opening up the wall with doors that can completely fold back, our customers can feel like they are bringing the outdoors in and extending their living space outside.
The Bi-Fold Doors
The span of bi-fold doors is 5.5m wide, which makes for an expansive opening. Firstly, we made the larger hole in the wall to accommodate the new doors and ensured it was structurally sound. We then installed the doors with minimum impact on the customer’s living arrangements.
Mr and Mrs M chose a light frame colour which means the doors blend in with the home’s existing windows and light-coloured rendered exterior. Furthermore, this decision means that even when the doors are closed, they impact as little as possible on the view from the inside and look neat, smart and complement the rest of the home from the outside.
Bring The Outside In
The new doors create an open feel onto Mr and Mrs M’s outside patio area, extending their living space and making it easy to enjoy good weather from both inside and out. Although it is a large expanse of glass, our premium products mean the interior of the home stays warm and cosy in the colder winter months with minimal heat loss.
The new expanse of glass has also brightened the interior space, making it a lighter and brighter room to enjoy and spend time in, whatever the weather outside.
Making an Entrance
To complete the more modernised look of the exterior of the home, we also installed a modern anthracite grey composite door. The long bar handle adds a modern and unique finishing touch which exudes contemporary style and makes for a great first impression.
The dark grey colour of the door contrasts with the home’s lighter exterior finishes, blends with the grey patio tiles and dark roof and provides a bespoke style to the elevation.
Mr and Mrs M couldn’t be more pleased with the finished results.
